Fanshawe’s Sinha, Ruddach Honoured with OCAA Badminton Awards

(London, Ontario) – The OCAA announced the winners of the 2023 Badminton awards, with two Falcons earning honours.

Fanshawe's Arpitraj Sinha (Markham) was named the OCAA Men's Badminton West Region Player of the Year. Sinha went undefeated at the west regionals with a record of 6-0 in men's singles play. Sinha is also a West Region All-Star.

Falcons Head Coach Steve Ruddach was named the OCAA Badminton Coach of the Year. Ruddach helped guide a total of seven student-athletes past the west regionals and into provincials, as Fanshawe won the west region men's team title. Ruddach was also named West Region Coach of the Year and is a nominee for CCAA national coach of the year. Ruddach has been leading the Falcons since 2016.

The OCAA Championship is being hosted by Seneca College from Feb. 17-18 at the KC Badminton Club in Aurora. The top two from each discipline will advance to the CCAA National Championship in Truro, Nova Scotia from March 8-11, 2023.
