(London, ON) – The Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) officially announced the schedules for the men's and women's varsity basketball seasons.
Fanshawe College will begin their season on the road with both men's and women's teams facing off against Sheridan on October 17th. The Falcons' first home games will be against St. Clair on October 22nd, where the women's team will get things rolling at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre at 6:00 p.m. and the men's team tipping off at 8:00 p.m.
It was a down year for the Falcons men's basketball team in 2024-2025 as they finished with a 5-13 record, placing them eighth in the OCAA West Division. A relatively inexperienced roster last season, Fanshawe will look to climb the standing in 2025-2026 as they welcome in some new players along with a few familiar faces. One of those familiar faces will be the men's team 2024-2025 Rookie of the Year, Da'Marion Ennis (Windsor, ON) who was the OCAA's third leading rebounder last season posting 9.9 boards per game to go with 11.8 points per game to give him a near double-double season average.
Fanshawe's women's basketball team finished their 2024-2025 season with an 8-8 record to place fifth in the OCAA West Division. Despite the less than favourable seeding position, the Falcons pulled off back-to-back road wins including a huge upset over the nationally ranked Niagara Knights to earn their spot in the OCAA final four. Despite falling short of the podium last season, the women's team will be rolling out a roster loaded with returning players, including OCAA West Division Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Star Ashlyn Anderson (Latchford, ON), who was also the Falcons' team Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year. The OCAA West Division Sixth Woman of the Year, Layla Mackenzie (Camlachie, ON) will also be making her return to the Fanshawe lineup. With a tight-knit squad that has experienced a deep playoff run, the Falcons will attempt to soar to new heights in 2025-2026.
