(London, Ontario) – In London on Wednesday afternoon, the No. 7 CCAA ranked Falcons clinched the top spot in the OCAA West Division with a 3-0 win over Conestoga (1-8). Fanshawe finished the regular season with a record of 8-1.
In the first half, Falcons rookie Malachi Morris (Tillsonburg, ON) scored first for the home team on a nice through ball from Jonathan Kam (London, ON). Ben Vyfschaft (London, ON) then hit a rocket of a strike to the short side of the net to make the score 2-0. After the opening 45 minutes, Fanshawe had 20 total shots to Conestoga's none.
The Falcons maintained the majority of the possession in the second frame. After a couple of great saves by the Conestoga keeper, Dominic Szyszka (London, ON) scored to extend Fanshawe's lead. Solid play by the whole Falcons squad led them to a 3-0 victory. Fanshawe ended the regular season on a seven game winning streak. In his debut season, Morris led the team in goals scored with seven, good for fourth in the OCAA West Division.
The Falcons will face a to be determined opponent from the OCAA East Division on Saturday, October 19. The match will be played at the Fanshawe Soccer Field at 3pm.
