The Falcons women’s volleyball team (8-3, 3rd West) returned home to the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Wednesday night for their first home game of 2026.
(London, ON) – The Falcons women's volleyball team (8-3, 3rd West) returned home to the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre on Wednesday night for their first home game of 2026. Matched up against Conestoga (6-4, 6th West), who sat just two spots behind them in the OCAA West Division standings coming in, the Falcons stepped up with a big three-sets-to-none sweep over the Condors to maintain their place in the standings.
The first set was back and forth in a battle of the birds, as the teams found themselves even at 10-10 halfway through. However, the Falcons came together and pulled away from Conestoga thanks to timely plays from Jaime Worsfold (Dorchester, ON), who finished her night with eight points and two blocks. Fanshawe claimed the first set, 25-17.
The Falcons carried their momentum into the second set, where they were able to maintain control throughout. Fanshawe was backed by strong defensive play, specifically from Carly Melo (Acton, ON), who tallied 12 digs in the match. The Falcons took a two-set lead into the third after winning the second set, 25-20.
In the third set, Fanshawe didn't look back and delivered an impressive 25-17 set victory to sweep a Conestoga team that got the better of them earlier this season in October. The Falcons' offence was led by Grace McLean (Dorchester, ON), Kelsey Lewis (Langham, SK), and Jillian Lancaster (London, ON), who each finished their nights with double-digit points.
The Falcons will look to continue the revenge tour in their next match on Sunday, January 18, when they take on the Humber Hawks (8-2, 2nd West) at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre at 1:00 p.m. in a showdown for second place in the OCAA West Division.
